Behavioral Technician

This is a vocational position responsible for collecting data by observing client behavior and/or administering standardized intelligence and/or personality tests.  Employees at this level enter observational data into assessment systems for summarization and analysis, participate in reliability and coding checks, interview clients, and prepare summaries of test results. 

Knowledge, skills & abilities

Knowledge of various types of intelligence and personality tests and assessments, the testing procedures used, and treatment theories relating to clients with behavioral problems.  Ability to complete a basic course of instruction in behavioral observation and testing, and accurately report and record observations.

Typical qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)

Supervising Behavioral Technician

This is a position which coordinates and supervises the collection of data using various standardized behavioral assessment systems, administers and scores intelligence and personality tests, and interviews clients to determine the feasibility of such tests.  Employee supervision includes hire recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline.   

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level:  Knowledge of coding procedures used in direct observational assessment systems.  Ability to train and supervise employees, establish and maintain the cooperation of clients in the administration of tests, and prepare clear and precise reports.

Typical qualifications

Associate degree and 1 or more years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
