Regulatory Inspector

General summary

This is a first-level vocational position accountable for scheduling and conducting initial, annual, random, renewal, and follow-up inspections of assigned businesses or professions to assure conformity with applicable state laws or rules and regulations.  Employees in this class are responsible for verifying licensure of professionals and businesses and inspecting and reviewing business documentation as it relates to licensure requirements.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

Knowledge of state statutes and regulations of assigned entities(s). Knowledge of inspection methods and techniques. Ability to identify, interpret, explain, and apply applicable statutes and regulations. Ability to analyze and prepare clear and detailed reports of inspection findings. Ability to travel extensively, operate a motor vehicle, and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.

Typical qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
