Park/Historic Site Specialist

General summary

This is a first-level professional position accountable for performing basic management duties relating to the overall operation and maintenance of a state park or historic site facility which includes visitor services, budgeting and procurement for minor projects, preservation, research, interpretation, and other management tasks. An employee may be accountable for participating in planning and directing natural or cultural history interpretation, resource management, and research in an assigned state park or historic site. Additional duties may include assisting with planning, coordinating, and implementing programs related to state parks or historic sites; and assisting with developing and administering long-range plans, short-term projects, and special events.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of business management, budget preparation, and procurement. Knowledge of natural and cultural resource preservation methods and techniques. Skill in providing information and guidance to park/historic site visitors and staff. Ability to develop and administer short and long term plans.

Typical qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
