Park/Historic Site Technician

General summary

This is a technical position accountable for conducting state park or historic site tours, and presenting interpretive and educational programs at state parks, historic sites, schools, or other community locations. Additionally, employees will be responsible for operating visitor services facilities to include taking reservations, selling souvenirs, operating cash registers, tracking inventory, collecting statistical and survey data, scheduling tours, and leading visitor group activities.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

Knowledge of the State of Missouri’s natural and cultural history. Knowledge of merchandising techniques, store display, and selling methods. Ability to prepare and present relevant information and develop related exhibits. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.

Typical qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and 1 or more years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
