General summary

This is a second-level direct care position in the care, treatment, and/or security of forensic psychiatric and/or sex offender clients in maximum and intermediate security areas. May function as a lead worker. Accountable for assisting clients with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and other related tasks. Assists in checking vital signs, height, and weight as assigned; collects and maintains records of fluid intake and output; reports on the condition of clients; and participates in rehabilitation, ambulation, and transfers. May be accountable for preparing, administering, and charting medication under the direction of a professional nurse, as a Certified Medication Technician. May perform some security-related functions in a mental health care setting. 

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of elementary behavior modification techniques, medical terminology, and drug classifications. Ability to prepare and maintain records, charts, and reports.

Typical qualifications

1-2 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
