Second-level supervisory position who can serve as the Officer-In-Charge located in a correctional institution or satellite facility either supervising security operations of an entire shift or a specific security program. In either capacity, employees at this level supervise subordinate security staff who monitor, control, and direct offenders. Supervision is more administrative in nature rather than direct day-to-day oversight of security activities, requiring a higher level of delegated authority (e.g., authorizes changes to institutional routine; reviews and endorses reports prepared by staff; authorizes overtime).
In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Knowledge of the rules and regulations relating to the operation and security of a correctional facility. Ability to exercise sound judgment in dealing with offenders and staff.
4 or more years of corrections experience.
