General summary

This is a supervisory-level position accountable for assisting a shop manager with the day-to-day operations of an automotive or heavy equipment repair shop, and/or supervision of technicians assigned to field locations. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Skill in using diagnostic and a variety of other tools essential to ensuring the proper operation of vehicles and other equipment. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work tickets. Ability to mentor, coach, and evaluate the work of staff.

Typical qualifications

5 or more years of relevant experience and/or appropriate education.
