This is a mid-level position accountable for performing mechanical and body work on vehicles, light and/or heavy equipment. Employees’ main focus is on the inspection, diagnoses, maintenance, repair, modification, and restoration of heavy maintenance and construction equipment, and power generation equipment. May supervise offenders. Employees organize work on a daily basis exercising independence and judgment that is greater than lower level positions.
In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of electronics, computer operations, and diagnostic system. Skill in diagnosing and repairing mechanical defects. Ability to use diagnostic and other tools needed in the performance of tasks. Ability to lift heavy loads and work in various positions.
2-4 years of relevant experience or appropriate education.
