Aircraft Mechanic

General summary

This is a vocational-level position responsible for performing inspections, repairs, and scheduled maintenance of aircraft. Employees are accountable for diagnosing electrical and mechanical problems and identifying repair procedures; and examining parts for defects and replacing them with new ones.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

Knowledge of the methods, tools, and practices used in a specialized aircraft maintenance area. Knowledge of aircraft schematics, properties of airframe materials, and electrical systems. Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations. Ability to read gauges, and understand instrumentation and diagnostic tools. Ability to use diagnostic and other mechanical tools used in repairing aircraft.

Typical qualifications

1-3 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
