Military Funeral Honors Team Member

General summary

These positions serve as uniformed members of a specialized team responsible for conducting military funeral honors ceremonies at the burial sites of deceased veterans. At this level, positions are accountable for performance of any assigned team position, including acting team leader, necessary for the successful completion of an honors ceremony; frequent travel within an assigned geographic area; operation, maintenance, and safeguarding of military weapons; and preparation of various reports.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

Knowledge of applicable military regulations, policies, and directives for military funeral honors ceremonies. Skill in handling and using firearms. Ability to participate in regular fitness and drill and ceremony training exercises. Ability to work outdoors, in extreme weather conditions and irregular hours. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license.

Typical qualifications

1 year of U.S. Military experience and graduation from a U.S. Military Advanced Individual Training (AIT) course or equivalent. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
