General summary

This is a seasoned Capitol Police position accountable for patrolling the building and grounds of State office buildings and properties. Provides security for the Governor and family, elected officials, state employees, and the general public. This level is assigned the full scope of lead work duties including: orienting new employees, if appropriate; assigning and reassigning tasks to accomplish prescribed work efficiently; giving direction to workers concerning work procedures; communicating, monitoring, and reviewing work for conformance to established standards of performance; and providing informal assessment of workers' performance to the supervisor.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous levels: Knowledge of administrative principles of police personnel supervision. Ability to serve as shift supervisor. Ability to coordinate security needs.  Skill in communication and interpersonal interactions.

Typical qualifications

Possession of a Peace Officer license and 3-5 years of relevant experience.
