This is a licensed professional position which may function as the pharmacy director of a state facility, direct a statewide medical review program for medications, and/or offer consultation on medical policies for a state agency. The position may serve as pharmacy policy director and/or perform peer reviews for compliance and standard of care. Incumbents in these positions may supervise specific internal drug vendor unit activities or field audit operations, or perform equivalent independent work either in the field or in the central office of a state agency. In addition, incumbents at this level are accountable for mentoring other pharmacists and may supervise pharmacy technicians.
In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of pharmaceutical economics; and principles and practices of management and supervision. Knowledge of agency mission and procedures. Ability to develop standards for use in policy determination and setting of regulations governing prescribing, dispensing, and payment of drugs in the public health programs. Ability to supervise, plan, and coordinate the activities of health care professionals.
Licensure and 4 or more years of experience as a Pharmacist.
