Occupational Therapist

General summary

This is a licensed professional position accountable for treating injured, ill, or disabled patients through the use of everyday activities.  Directs occupational therapy assessments, treatments, interventions, administration, program planning, and documentation for acute and long-term care patients.  Applies clinical reasoning in developing occupational therapy plans and programs.  Plans the workload for employees; provides supervision, training, and development.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

In addition to those identified in the previous level:  Knowledge of principles and methods used to develop and implement individual treatment plans, and the use of adaptive equipment designed to assist in self-help tasks.  Ability to plan, organize, lead, and adapt planned therapeutic activities in accordance with patient’s needs.

Typical qualifications

Licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
