The functions within this job family include the following:

  • Design and implement behavior support plans.
  • Observe client behavior and complete initial behavioral assessments.
  • Determine client progress towards goals and modify behavior support plans accordingly.

Behavior Analyst

This is a professional-level position accountable for preparing and administering behavior support plans to enhance adaptive behaviors and diminish challenging behaviors resulting in restrictive interventions or placements for individuals with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

Knowledge of applied behavior analysis and modification principles, theories, and techniques.  Knowledge of mental illness and/or developmental disabilities and their effect on individual cognitive and behavioral functioning.  Ability to assess and interpret behaviors and data, and train facility staff, caregivers, and family members in behavioral analysis techniques.

Typical qualifications

License to practice as a Behavior Analyst.
